Excellent Service
Dr Drakos and his team offer a fast and effective service. They were very informative from my first appointment to my surgery day. I was a bit nervous about having surgery in the first place but, they kept me calm. The overall experience that I had with this doctor is beyond amazing. I had surgery on both pinky toes due to having hammertoe. I was in excruciating pain and I tried many remedies to ease my pain. I made my first appointment with Dr Drakos and he took an xray, showing me I had a hammertoe. He told me that in order to correct this I would need surgery, which scared me a bit. I made my appointment for surgery about a week later and I've never felt more relief. Dr Drakos and his team took very good care of me and had outstanding bedside manners. I would highly recommend him as your doctor!

awesome doctor
I came to Dr. Drakos for help on a potentially difficult case regarding my foot. I've had multiple foot surgeries over a span on 8 years on both feet for bunions by a podiatrist, and the last one he performed on my left foot pinky toe to remove screws he had placed on a previous surgery, didn't go right. I complained to my dr about constant discomfort, pain, and swelling still months after surgery, and all I was told was that everything was fine and that being on my feet at work all day was making the healing process slower. I ended up seeing another podiatrist for a second opinion and found out that my pinky toe bone was very arthritic, had no joint space left, and was dead at the end, causing it to look eaten away with cysts in my bone as well. All of this was going on for months after my surgery and my dr knew about
it but never told me. I then searched high and low for an orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon to help fix what the podiatrist messed up, and very few had answers to try and help me, or were even hesitant to perform surgery on my toe, and amputation was always the 1st choice given to me by them because it was the easiest solution. Finally, I was recommended to see Dr. Drakos by an orthopedist I was seeing who knew of Dr Drakos, and said "he would be the best choice who would be willing to perform a surgery to save your toe". After seeing Dr. Drakos on my first visit, I was immediately comfortable with him; he had great bedside manner which i found hard to find with other orthopedists i had seen previously, he explained all my options to me, and went into detail about each one with potential risk/benefit ratios, and took the time to speak to me and didn't rush to see his next patient at all. I ended up scheduling surgery with him, and he was able to successfully place a synthetic joint implant into my pinky toe joint, an very uncommon place, he told me, that he normally implants them in, but he said he would attempt it to try and save my toe and give me the ultimate shot of being pain free. The surgery ended up being a success! I felt an immediate change in the pressure and discomfort i used to feel in my toe once my leg block wore off 2 days post-op, and i even stopped my pain medication about 3 days post-op as well because i felt great. He fixed up my scar which was also very painful and warped from my podiatrist, and now, 4 1/2 months post-op, i am able to stand for more than 2 hrs at my job without my foot swelling up and having to sit down (i'm a vet tech at an emergency/specialty center), or go home after a long 10-13 hr day at work and cry from how much pain I was in. Dr. Drakos is forever in my debt and he truly helped me to become pain free and be able perform at my fullest at my job, and finally go out with my friends without the fear that i would be in excruciating pain by just standing. He did an amazing job and i couldn't be happier!!!

Best Doctor Ever
I have had a traumatic ankle/foot injury for over 15 years. Dr. Drakos is the only doctor who has been able to help. Additionally he is extremely sincere and spends time with you. He performed a tendon transplant a few years ago, and did a clean up of the ankle. He is excellent.

A quick diagnosis that might just save my life.
What started out as a routine orthopedic problem, turned out to be Cancer in the spine and prostate. Dr. Drakos' quick diagnosis and subsequent referrals to oncologists and Sloan Kettering, might just give me the edge to beat it.Thank you Dr.Drakos.

2 years after achillies surgery
I had a second surgery to replace my achillies tendon after unsuccessful surgery at Winthrop Hospital. Dr. Drakos suggested using ligaments from other parts of my body (big toe and hamstring) to replace the big tendon.
I was a highly competitive athlete prior to achillies rupture and I am finally back to being very active and even competitive. Just in the past 2 months I did half marathon, couple of shorter races, 200 mile Ragnar relay, went to beach volleyball boot camp and now playing AA competitive volleyball, and soon going to do my first Ironman. Although my operated leg has smaller muscle and isn't as strong as a good leg, it is fully functional and allows me to play sports. Thanks Dr. Drakos!

Dr. Drakos is extremely knowledgeable. He got me back to doing what I was doing sports wise and just daily living well within the timeline he mapped out after my surgery. I fractured my ankle in 3 places and it is held together with screws, plates, etc. I am playing tennis, karate, and running all at the same efficiency as before my surgery

Superb
I had a complicated ankle problem involving a bone graft. He did the surgery 6 months ago and to my relief, I've healed so well that I don't need to go back. (I'm relieved that I've healed, not that I don't have to go see him again!) He's an excellent surgeon whom I traveled a long way to see, and I'd do it again.
Because she saw how well I healed, my physical therapist recommended him to people with the same kind of problem I had. Besides all this, he is a very nice guy whose attitude has rubbed off on his staff-they are all lovely as well.

He is wonderful
My wife has had a serious ankle problem and a history of postibial tendon surgery in the past on both legs. We were recommended to Dr. Drakos by another very capable and dedicated orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Elliot Hershman.Dr. Drakos is competent, caring, very capable and makes every effort to restore his patients to maximum health without surgery.

Excellent Experience
I had an ankle ligament reconstruction with Dr. Drakos and my experience was excellent. I went to several doctors on Long Island that could not diagnose or treat my problem before seeing him. I found him because he is the only doctor that I could find that is trained in both sports medicine and foot and ankle surgery. He knew exactly what was wrong with me, and after recovering from his surgery I am now playing basketball again. Overall it was as good of an experience as one can expect given the situation.

Dr. Drakos is amazing. I was in a severe car accident, broke my foot and ended up with a lis franc fracture. The first doctor told me I would never run again, play basketball again, or even any sports whatsoever. I ended up going to see Dr. Drakos after reading about him and the work that he does. He told me the options for surgery, told me I would be able to run again as well as do sports just fine. He knew the time frame for everything perfectly and i am so pleased with the results after surgery. For such a severe fracture, I can do everything I was able to do before the surgery (which was fusion of the two mid foot joints,
plus he fixed other things during the surgery on the spot, basically reconstructing the arch of my foot). I appreciate what he has done for me every single day and I can't express my gratitude enough.
